A big thank you goes out to the 30,000+ visitors who made it to the fifth annual Imagine RIT festival this Saturday. We hope you enjoyed your time on campus and were inspired by what you saw.
For those who couldn’t be there, here is a recap:
The day kicked off with President Destler’s E-Dragster Race, where WE @ RIT (Women Engineers) took first place with their Hot Wheelz vehicle. Then, at the opening ceremony, RIT A Cappella groups Proof of Purchase and Eight Beat Measure welcomed visitors with their original Imagine RIT songs.
Then the festival was underway! Visitors flooded campus to explore over 350 exhibits: from an aquarium of balloon art and a brigade of tiny robots, to dresses made of coffee filters and a bicycle-powered smoothie maker. Children could make necklaces with their own DNA, try their hand at quidditch, or build a solar-powered oven to take home.
In addition to the exhibits were live performances, food and games for the whole family. A great time was had by all, and we can’t help but begin counting down the days until next year’s festival on May 4, 2013 (361, in case you’re wondering).
