Thank You, Sponsors!

It occurred to me that we have not given a “shout out” to our very supportive and generous sponsors of Imagine RIT: Innovation & Creativity Festival. Certainly, we have thanked these individuals and companies individually, but I think it is important for everyone to know that Imagine RIT relies on sponsorships to continue and grow, and that this ongoing support is so greatly appreciated.

First, I’d like to thank Time Warner Cable (TWC) for continuing as the premier level sponsor of Imagine RIT for the third year in a row. TWC’s Connect A Million Minds program and Imagine RIT share a mission of engaging our young people in the STEM disciplines so the partnership is a perfect fit. Our gold level sponsor for 2012 was Freescale (semiconductor industry). Silver sponsors included: Park Point @ RIT (Wilmorite); Tata Consultancy Services; First Niagara Bank; Texas Instruments; Xerox Corporation; Rochester General Health System (with whom RIT also has a strategic alliance); and Trident Precision Manufacturing.  Please check out the full list of sponsors from the 2012 festival on our sponsor landing page.

Below is a copy of the sponsors report that we sent out. I believe it captures the essence of how successful Imagine RIT is, as it highlights several key events and outcomes for 2012. Thank you, Sponsors! And, thank you, for reading our blog.

Sponsor Report – Imagine RIT: Innovation + Creativity Festival 2012

Thank you for your generous support of the 5th annual Imagine RIT Festival.  We are very excited to report that based on estimated numbers from Parking & Transportation, close to 35,000 people attended the RIT campus on Saturday, May 5, 2012 – a record number of visitors! This does not include the 2,000+ exhibitors and 600+ volunteers who were present throughout the day, actively participating in this wonderful celebration of RIT innovation and creativity. The new Corporate Sponsorship Tent, located outside Lowenthal Hall, was a hit with our premier, gold and silver sponsors, too – each was able to bring one of their own innovative exhibits to the festival, and we plan to continue this as a sponsor benefit in 2013.

Please keep in mind that although our mission is to showcase the talents of RIT students, faculty and staff, there is a larger purpose at hand. Visitors to Imagine RIT are immersed in a fun, engaging learning environment, which raises their awareness of careers, particularly in “STEAM” disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math) and encourages them to pursue avenues of higher learning.

Before we provide you with additional information about this past year’s festival, it is important to note that we could not put forth an event of this magnitude and caliber without your help. We hope you will consider continuing your support of Imagine RIT in 2013. In addition, we welcome your feedback:  What do you like best about Imagine RIT? What are your ideas for improving the festival? What additional opportunities interest you and your organization in terms of sponsorship? Please contact festival chairman, Dr. Barry R. Culhane at 585.475.7202 or barry.culhane@rit.edu, or fundraising chair, Brian Shanahan, at 585.475.6711 or besdar@rit.edu. Thank you.

Finally, we hope you enjoy these testimonials we received after Imagine RIT:

“As parents, we also enjoyed the chance to show our children that learning is fun and college isn’t just sitting in lectures — it can be creating things and solving issues.  Our 14 year old son was interested in the ‘Celestia’ exhibit, our soon to be 12 year old said she is ready to go to RIT for engineering, and our 8 year old now wants to study packaging!  We love that they came out of the festival with aspirations to learn!  Thank You!” – Karen, Auburn, NY

“A great family event! One of my children said it was even more fun than the RMSC & The Museum of Play!” – Victoria on Twitter @Imagine_RIT

“The kids love science and this go them excited about their future in higher education. The free admission was great and the kids thought they were in Disney World.” – mother of children ages 6 and 9
